I think it should still have noticeably more damage than the pistol. Reducing the fire rate would just make it another slow hand gun like the revolver and the magnum.

I wouldn't be against variations if they didn't pollute the entire weapon pool, there are 2 pistols, 2 uzis. Tommy gun, SMG, MP5, etc. They all blend into their own categories, "Pistols" and "Rifles". I would be fine with some variations instead of "new weapons".
The problem is that we keep adding weapons that wouldn't stand out if they aren't powerful.

Keep adding pistols, they won't be notable unless they are equally or more powerful than the magnum. I think that the .45 addition was completely unecessary, we already have pistols and it will either be "just another pistol" or "the new magnum".

As I've somewhat said in another topic, we should start adding unique weapons that stand out in other ways instead of being batshit powerful.
