Max FPS

Post by RickAvory » Sun May 27, 2018 7:41 am

So this is a relatively simple concept. Basically it is making it so that your FPS maxes out at a certain level. Ex. If I set the Max FPS value in the game settings to 150, then it will max at 150. I am aware that there is VSYNC that locks it at 60, but I feel that this is too low. This could be could for keeping FPS steady and for not using too much power on superfighters, as some good computers can run superfighters at 1000 FPS, and may not want to play with only 60 FPS (as SFD is a very low intensity game). My laptop runs SFD at 280 normally but tends to jump around a lot from, (Ex. 260-280-240 etc etc) which makes the gameplay jumpy. If I keep the max FPS at 150 then it won’t jump, and the FPS would be high enough for smooth and suitable playing.
Thanks for Listening,
-Rick

That is just an example that Would likely best accomodate my laptop. If you want your Max FPS to be at 250, then the highest your FPS will go would be 250. However if your computer can reach 250 then it will obviously be lower than 250. Does that make sense?

You can experiment with the TARGETFPS=144 value in your config.ini file (set VSYNC=0).
The TARGETFPS is some old code and the value 144 is an arbitary max value in the current version but increased to 250 for future versions of the game. This uses the XNA Game.IsFixedTimeStep/TargetElapsedTime values to achieve this target FPS which may (or may not) result in higher CPU due to spin-waiting and other nifty XNA framework related stuff.

Thanks! I will try to figure that out but tbh I am not properly educated with computers and have no idea how to. xd
