Hey, learning melee isn't hard, i have known players who have mastered the art of melee in a few days! anyway, i am not good at explaining any tactics or combos. but i know a few melee tutorials in youtube which features almost all the good melee tactics in sfd!

ADVANCED INSTRUCTIONS:

It's rock paper scissors with some added stuff to confuse your opponent:
block beats punch (punch after block to deal damage)
grab beats block
punch beats grab

PREDICT what your opponent is going to do and counter it with one of these moves.

to mix it up a little:
-jump on nearby crates and kick while falling off of it without jumping to stun your opponent, then immediately grab to get the most hated combo in SFD
- do jump attacks (maybe multiple times) to keep them on their toes. only jump when you know they aren't about to punch your feet.
- Run to the other side of your opponent while they're blocking to confuse which direction they should be punching in
- tackle
-kick (I heard that works)
-pause between their blocks if you notice they have good reaction timing, this pause is hard to master, but it can be abused if you get the rhythm just right (Watch Sree's second video for an example)

some tips on how to predict attacks:
-if you punched when the other person is blocking, attempt to keep punching even if they're about to punch you. The reason for this, is because they may try to grab you because they're expecting you to block out of reflex, and you can't block the next punch anyways. EXCEPTION: if the other person has a heavy melee weapon and you don't, you can still block the next hit without getting hurt because your hands are fast.

-do grab after blocking a punch if you think your opponent has good reaction timing (this may not always work).

-if you think your opponent has really good prediction, try to do something out of the ordinary, such as grabbing after you punched them once.

- do a triple punch if you believe your opponent is trying to run around you or pause through your blocks, this will confuse them and stop them from running.
