I recommend double elimination - a winner's bracket and a loser's bracket, with grand finals being the Winner's bracket team vs the Loser's bracket team.
We should establish a stagelist, voiding the stages that are not suitable for 3v3 teamplay. That way we can do official stage striking, allowing for complete freedom of choice from the players to rule out the stages they do not wish to fight on. Random map choice is not good for this type of competitive play. Finally, we can use a dice roller to determine who strikes first. I can explain later once we make an actual stagelist.
I respect what you're trying to start here, but it will take a bit more work before we have a structured system in place.
EDIT: Been working on a stagelist all day, and I've got some rules thrown together as well. I'll post my full competitive list of rules and whatnot soon. We need scripters now to fully round this out.

Thank you for contributing, Lunatic.
About your idea on double elimination, first I want to clarify what I meant with this picture : https://i.redditmedia.com/4LFjL9w0MhA-H ... c73178abde
Now I do not understand how double elimination works exactly, but I know it requires a lot more matches, and that a team only gets eliminated after two losses. This might be good for other tournaments, but for this one it is not what we want.
By the stagelist you mean the maps that can be chosen? Well the map pool for the whole tournament is all official maps. That said, you mean that the players can choose the maps they do NOT want to play on. For example I strike Canals and you strike Hazardous, and these two cannot be chosen. I like that idea and I do agree it is probably more fair.
I want to make it structured but not too strict, to make at as easy as possible for the players to play at the time which suits them. Yes we want to be structured and competitive but not too structured and strict as there is no million dollar prize for the winner, it is fun tournament for anyone who wants playing with a deeper purpose.
I do not get what you are trying to say in your EDIT about stagelist, can you tell us what you mean by "establishing a stagelist".

Hello BLITZER, I have updated the post with a clear way to join the tournamment.BLITZER wrote:i have 2 things to say how do i join the tournament?

All you have to do is write your team's name and players(minimum 3, max 10. If you only have 3 write your team and you can add later).
If you want more people to see it you can tell your team and other people about it, and yes I would like it to be pinned.

In other games (Most notably, smash bros) there are certain stages which are not legal due to issues involved on the stage. The most common issue concerning stage legality are the stage hazards - being hurt by the stage instead of your opponent is a big no-no. Looking at the 21-long list of Official Maps, I realized that a few of these stages have some big problems that, while not too bad in FFA or casual matches, might spell trouble for team matches or competitive play in general. I've come up with a set of rules for discerning whether or not the map should be legal or not. I'll be going over all of that in my competitive post - been distracted off and on today, though most of it is written out by now.
So, saying we have between 7 and 9 stages, we should find some method of rock paper scissors to determine our striking order for the first match. From there, we just need to solidify which maps are starters and which maps are counterpicks. I've already got it outlined well enough, but it's up to the community to agree and disagree; help shape the rules of the game going forward.

We had a tournament of SF in our high school. We had less than 20 players, but it did work and it was fun. Everyone took a folder of dank memes and the winner got them all for the prize.
A tournament in SFD sounds great. If it's on the summer I can't join, i'm out of the reach to internet then.
Another bad thing is that i don't have friends that are active playing sfd. Can't make teams.

Well, we plan on introducing a competitive scene into SFD and make regular tournaments, not just a one time thing.Motto73 wrote:We had a tournament of SF in our high school. That said, if you can help us spread the word quickly enough, we would be able to launch our first tournament before summer.

Added.
Hunter you edited your post?
I read that you ask when the competition starts, it will start when there are enough teams, there are 3-5 teams ready, we need 8.
The good thing is when we start, you can play at the time you want, just talk to the other team and decide what time you can play.

since it's a 3v3 the other 2 slots would be a referee. Because i'm wondering how you guys will keep track of who's winning and losing.

OK, so is it Clans battling? Since it would be really cool if it was clans battling and whoever wins get like PRO CUP and stuff.
