Can I add my own gun?

Post by pisi » Fri Nov 08, 2024 8:59 pm

I wonder if i can add my own gun with different mechanisms or not to the game? And how can I do that, please hint for me the steps to create a completely new gun from the default, with new texture files and C# scripts?

From my understanding of it, you can't add your own guns to the game unless you reverse engineer it. There is however a modification to Superfighters Deluxe that goes by the name of Superfighters Redux, that adds a bunch of new guns, mechanics, tiles, and maps to the game. It was made by a passionate community member who has since been introduced to the dev team officially, and you can download it here.

Alternatively, you can make existing guns look like guns you'd otherwise want to see in game by changing their texture. I wrote an in-depth guide on how to do that here. You can also browse existing texture packs made by other people on the Mods sub-forum or on SFDMaps if you don't want to create your own. Changing pickup names will require a custom language pack, which some texture packs do provide. Changing the sounds will require further tinkering, I wouldn't really recommend going that far.

Hope this helps.

As @KliPeH mentioned, adding new guns directly to the base game isn’t possible without reverse engineering it, which would be a complex approach. However, there is still a way to achieve what you want by using Superfighters Redux as a base. SFR is a mod that introduces a lot of additional content, including new guns and mechanics, and it's open to further customization.

Using SFR, you can create your own weapons or other mods by building off of what's already been added in that mod. You’ll need some understanding of C# and likely some experience with image editing for custom textures. There's a discord server get you started if you choose to go down this route.
