Status Update 2020-10-14

We just rolled out an update to Superfighters Deluxe (same version number 1.3.7b) updating the communication to use https again with fallback to http if needed. No need to update the version number in this update.

After a long time of troubleshooting we have concluded that TLS 1.2 or newer is now required by our webhost. When it comes to .NET 4.5 Framework which SFD is compiled in TLS 1.2 is not enabled by default which you must enable. This update tweaks a few things to enable that and try http in case future https calls fail (just in case we forget to update the SSL in time). The error shown during this time has been super vague, basically "remote server disconnected". Finding the exact cause has been problematic.

To enable TLS 1.2 for older versions of Superfighters Deluxe (version 1.3.7 or older) you can download this file (https://superfightersdeluxe.com/Public/ ... exe.config) and place it in the same folder as the game itself, next to the "Superfighers Deluxe.exe" file and it should work again. This file is NOT needed for SFD 1.3.7b or later.

That put us back a few weeks when it comes to sharing our older games.

Next up is the release of the Barbarian Onslaugh source files. That is our very first flash game, not to be confused with Barbarian Onslaught: The Secret of Steel (we will be sharing that one too at a later time). We will begin with the first Barbarian Onslaught in order to figure out the details of how we should be sharing source files and how to license it. The license will be a non-commercial license of sorts - we still need to look closer at that.

Good thing I had old backup blu-ray discs laying around with the old source files for all flash games and projects. Always keep backups of important data!
