Fairground

Post by Rick Sanchez » Sun Dec 25, 2016 7:19 pm

Am i the only Player that thinks Fairground needs to be removed completely? I mean, everyone i've met has a distaste for the map, and for a reason. It's hard to melee atleast for me, since the map is so damn huge, i need to put on my glasses to even see my character properly. Anyway, whos with me?

"Having a hard time with melee" is not a reason for a map to be deleted. The map suffers from being incredibly open with practically no cover, and some dynamic map elements (Ferris wheel, only one functionally usable roller coaster track) that don't really add to the map to make it unique gameplay-wise. It's a shooter's dream with nearly limitless opportunity to spray at someone. The wheel is hard to take advantage of and there's an odd sniper's nest on the top of the map that is very open. Nothing is cohesive for the map, making it's design feel almost directionless.

I almost prefer the old Fairground. I didn't much care for the old weapon spawn system, but they added some risk/reward to the open platform towards the top of the map by having two items next to each other (Do I stay out in the open to get armed or do I dive to safety?). The map design was also more functional and fun, with the roller coaster being an important map element to use and abuse to chase/avoid foes. It was safe yet dangerous! Map design for the old version, while still not the strongest, was better imo than the iteration we have now. If it could be worked out for dynamic item spawns too, that would be cool.

You guys have the power to make it good, please make it good it is not good. "unique" bullcrap like the rollercoaster is not a good addition, it just makes the gameplay more annoying. So does the ferris wheel, they both suck so much ass i almost want to leave a server whenever it comes on, so does everyone else playing.
