How to minimize ping?

Post by MOOADAM » Tue Dec 04, 2018 4:58 pm

in pretty much every online game ive played theres Ping and its been made clear that the higher your ping is the more lag or interference there will be. I was wondering if theres something i can do to make my ping as low as possible to maximize game preformance and minimize lag

because whenever i play SFD(full verison) my avatar reacts late to me pressing the buttons if my ping is about 110 or over [in the earlier versons it just made minor lag but nothing unplayable].

(or is Ping location/ wifi related?)

It is. You need a relatively fast internet connection (preferably cable and not WiFi) and be living close to the person hosting. Personally if I play with a host from my own hometown my ping sits at around 17-23, so imagine having to play with people a few countries apart.

Make sure nothing in your local connection area takes up your bandwidth while you're playing. For example, if someone in my household streams a movie while I play my ping nearly doubles. Make sure Steam/Origin/Uplay aren't downloading updates and that you're not downloading anything else in the background (that includes updating apps on your phone). Disconnect your phone from the internet if needed. Quit YouTube if you're using it to play music, this is interfering with your connection too. Generally make sure nothing uses much internet apart from the game that you're playing.
