Im sure if you were around in the pre-alpha days,you remember that there were alot of cool and fun scripts to play with,specifically,the DBZ one made by Xhomie,with an abundance of others,including Extremely fun maps.My request is that can some one remake the DBZ script,it would be greatly appreciated,and im sure im not the only one who would want this.Thank you for your time.

Dang! You were quicker than me :) , I was thinking about the same thing, to make a thread (that I would have called "The script workshop") where All the users can send old malfunctioning scripts (both standalone or maps related) to be fixed and the community of scripters could provide their fixes.

I actually had an idea like that myself, to make a post about old malfunctioning maps like zombie survivals and fix em up.

However, When I was discussing it with my friends I realized that you would need the author's confirmation to fix the originals.

I had made a DBZ script a long time ago and I could possibly finish it for you and post it on sfd maps. It'll be slightly different but better in my opinion.
Expect it by the end of this week.

Thanks,i'd advise you to upload this to SFD.Maps.UA,and maybe name it DBZ Remastered or sumthing,so others notice it. Also,may you please add confings if you know how to disable the Up+attack rockets? Would be appreciated greatly.

Maybe we should create a shared account in sfdmaps and then upload all kinds of fixed maps and scripts? It would be a mess if everyone uploaded everything multiple times on their own accounts.

Hopefully when the game gets a full release on steam, it'll have workshop support and people can put their scripts/maps together for the game through it. Until then I wouldn't mind seeing you guys throw some old scripts back together - I personally loved wizards, even if it was a broken mess.

Another thing to specify is that the applicant need to provide a link for the download of the map/ script to be fixed, so to focus the attention to this thread avoiding from dispersing fixes on other discussions.

I don't know if someone already fixed the map but since I saw the Kawabanga post I'm taking care of that map, I will post the download once I will finish to manually replace all the camera areas with the new camera trigger, because the previous solution adopted by Gwendalaze is completely messed up.

I tried to programmatically replace the previous system with an hybrid one using the camera trigger but the aspect ratio of the latter makes things harder, or in some particular situations, impossible if not placed manually (note that with the camera trigger you cannot resize the viewport more than it was possible with camera areas).

By the way Kawabanga, Do you have some of your map to fix? I remember of a pirate boss battle that used scripts in some quantity...

Yes, in Dec. I'm going to have more time and I want to fix my maps. Haven't yet checked the complexity of the work, however. Also, don't take it as granted, but got thoughts hanging arround and figers warm to make new map.

Most old scripts are broken either because of
1. The new AI system (BotBehaviour, instead of BotType) or
2. The new camera system.

Quick fix that might really help in most cases:

1.1 Write this in top of the script:

Code: Select all

BotBehavior Fix_Behavior = new BotBehavior(true, PredefinedAIType.TutorialMeleeA);
1.2 Replace all instances of

Code: Select all

SetBotType(BotType.TutorialA);
with

Code: Select all

SetBotBehavior(Fix_Behavior);
2.1 The new camera can't be set on IObjects anymore (which was a handy feature). So, if you find something like

Code: Select all

Game.SetCameraArea([some text/letters WITHOUT GetAABB()]);
then you can replace it with

Code: Select all

Game.SetCameraArea([same text].GetAABB(););
2.2 Example:

Code: Select all

//Was previously:
Game.SetCameraArea(obj);
//Fix it to
Game.SetCameraArea(obj.GetAABB());
Not guaranteed to fix everything but give it a try. These are just the most common fixes that need to be made.
