Status update 2018-05-12 (FAQ)

Some questions have been stacking up since the last Beta release of the game which I think it's time to process.

I think I will do it in form of a frequently asked question format with question and a following answer. A bit odd for a status update I think but it will work just fine.

Question: Will there be any more (free) Beta updates?
Answer: No. We're working on the release version (v1.0) of Superfighters Deluxe.

Question: When will the game be released?
Answer: Our preliminary goal is still to release the game late summer. After that we will hopefully continue to release post-launch updates. Worse-case scenario - release later this year (I really hope not!).

Question: Will the game be available on Steam?
Answer: Yes. Steam will be our primary platform we release the game on. We're currently tinkering with a steam page for Superfighters Deluxe.

Question: What about final Beta testing the game?
Answer: We will have a beta testing phase but it will be for invited players only. Steam supports closed beta testing in some way, we haven't looked into the practical details yet. Once it's time for the beta testing we will create an announcement here in this forum and send PM's to all invited members. Sending any PM to us telling that you want to be invited to the Beta testing will automatically disqualify you.

Question: You should give old Pre-Alpha/Alpha players the game for free!
Answer: We don't think so. You have helped us shape the game by playing it and giving feedback (and sending crash reports). Hopefully you had a fun time testing the game (and maybe still have a fun time playing the Beta 1.0.2c version). If you really want to support us you can show that support by buying the game once it's released.

Question: What happens to the MythoLogic Interactive accounts currently used with the game?
Answer: These accounts have a bit of history behind them. Our intention was to allow you to pay for the game directly through our website using PayPal. But after implementing the account system we realized the amount of additional work it would require to handle payments and have a platform with 100 % uptime just to mention a few worries. So we decided to look into Steam instead. The MythoLogic Interactive accounts as we see them now are obsolete and might be disabled for the release.

Question: Will there be a console version? Will there be a web-browser version like Superfighters?
Answer: No.

Question: Any upcoming bug fixes for the release?
Answer: Yes. Check the fixed bug section and you can see all reported bugs that have been solved for the release. We have also solved several crashes in the map editor and in the game as we encounter them ourselves.

Question: Must custom maps use a "Path Grid" for bots to be able to do anything?
Answer: Yes. The path grid tells how bots can navigate around in your map. If you don't have a path grid they will just stand still.

Question: This is a happy moment, why am I feeling so emotional?

Emotional rollercoaster apart, keep the great work, guys...I've been looking forward to this for a long time!

Q: Will pre-alpha players get something like a little golden star next to their name?

I may never been so eager to throw money at people. Keep up the good work, guys. I'm definetly going to pre-order SFD if you are going to do so (maybe good-old-payed beta key? Would be awesome). Or, you know, just buy it whenever it comes out. Damn, I was waiting for the moment to buy this game for too long...

There aren't information about if the workshop will be implemented or not and if there will be custom map only contents or also texture packs available.

Apart from that I'm very proud of what level o quality SFD has gained thanks to the current community help, I'm also glad to have been part of it from the very beginning in the previous forum, even if I wasn't very active because I wasn't able to make a complete meaning speech with people in english.

Dynamic Duo never disappoints, I have great confidence in the Steam launch success, and who knowns, maybe this game will finally get the right attention he deserves.

I have been following this game since shotguns had 8 barrels (something I wish would come back since mag currently trumps shotgun) so you can definitely count on me to support this game wholeheartedly. hopefully with it being integrated into steam lag won't be an issue anymore, I've come to notice that steam games don't lag as much third-party standalone games which makes me really excited to try the game out on steam.

I'd imagine no, since the forum accounts are becoming obsolete and even then there is no way to actually verify whether you've played during that time.

Looking forward to the full release, I've put a lot of hours into this game and seeing the progress over the few years I've played really is something. The steam release is gonna be pretty huge for this game and give it the publicity boost it needs.

Pre-Alpha players should(not absolutely have to) get some sort of recognition, maybe like how in TF2 players who bought the game (before it became free) got a special, although not a very cool hat.

Just like that maybe you guys should make a sort of special party hat or mytho-skull icon for the pre-alpha players, especially something with a mytho-skull since after the game's release the mytho-skull would probably just be a relic of the old days...

This could work kinda like if a MythoLogic account is registered before XX/XX/2018 (which is when the game's releasing I presume) logging in with that account through the game's launcher will grant you a special... Something, that's up to you two.

Now, like I said, pre-alpha players don't absolutely have to get some sort of recognition, you two have given us alot over the years of this game's pre-alpha and I acknowledge that fact, but i'm just doin' what I do, which is suggesting.

Also, some of us scrubz don't have professionale skillz to lord over the fresh newbies that'll flood the game soon, so atleast we'll have something to prove to the new guys if a recognition item and/or icon is put into the game.
Off Topic
Edit: Just wanted to say a heartfelt thanks for making this game, after the first SF I was worried what would happen to this amazing 2D unique fighting game concept and after my parents got a new computer(for themselves) I searched the internet to find a sequel, found it, had fun, then the computer broke again. fokkin cheap-ass computers amirte?

If this game gets the recognition I imagine it'll get, I'll finally be able pry my friends off of league and brawlhalla to play a fun game for once.

Question: In the release of Superfighters Deluxe, for whoever hasn't bought it, will we still have some of the new features? (only a few)

Q1: Will we still be able to download and use custom maps (from the internet) after the game is released on Steam?
Downloading custom maps will still work exactly the same as before. Once we start digging into the practical stuff we will look into setting up / configuring a Steam workshop for the game for maps and scripts (and maybe texture packs even though we don't support that) as that seem to be common stuff.
