Superfighters Deluxe connection troubleshooting FAQ

When I browse games I see :"Online services failed. Make sure the game can connect to mythologicinteractive.com"

If it has worked before and you see this, try again in a few minutes/hours. Short offline times are to be excepted from time to time.

If you see this first time starting SFD or if this keeps showing up check the following:
1: Make sure you're running the latest version of SFD (otherwise check Enable online services for SFD v.1.3.7 and older)
2: Make sure SFD is allowed to communicate with the internet. Windows firewall might block the game or a third party anti-virus program might block the game.
3: In rare cases it may be a faulty configured DNS server or other server that builds the backbone of the internet. You may have to wait a few hours to a few days for it to start working again. (We had a situation in the past where a whole region couldn't connect for several days until it solved itself - probably a server that was repaired or upgraded.)
4: If you're using a VPN try to disable it and see if SFD browse games start workin again.
5: Some goverments in some countries may block communication to unapproved foreign sites. IF you know this may be the case you may need to use a VPN.

How do I connect to someone?

The easiest way is to use the server browser, find a public game with decent ping (anything less than 150 should do) and hit the connect button and wait up to 10 seconds.

A series of interactions will now happen in the background.
1: You register that you're trying to connect to the server.
2: The server will within 10 seconds see that you're trying to connect.
3: The server will send a NAT punch-through package to you, while you're doing the same to the server.
4: Once the NAT punch-through messages have passed (without being blocked) a connection can be established between you and the server.

I can't connect to a specific server. What's wrong?

- Make sure nothing blocks communication for the game. Check your windows firewall and your anti-virus program (common sources of blockage). You must allow the game to communicate without restrictions as the game must be able to connect to any server being hosted AND to mythologicinteractive.com.
- Allow the game to try to connect for 10 seconds to allow the NAT punch-through to do its work.
- If the NAT punch-through doesn't work for whatever reason you might need to set up port forwarding. See the port forwarding section further down.
- If you're behind a symmetric NAT (https://www.think-like-a-computer.com/2 ... etric-nat/) you must set up port forwarding manually as the game's NAT punch-through won't work. See the port forwarding section further down.
- If the server is within the same LAN as your computer you may have to use the "Connect To IP" option instead and type in the LAN IP of the server in order to connect properly.
- If you still can't connect it might be the server that is set up wrong and none can connect to it at all. Try another server.
- If you still can't connect it might be your Internet service provider (ISP) blocking specific ports. In a free and open Internet this should not be a problem but this has been the problem for some of our users in the past.
- Worste case scenario is that the server is not set up properly and won't allow anyone to connect. Try another server.

Port forwarding

Note that port forwarding is NOT required in most cases, but it can make it faster to connect to your server, so it's a good idea if you host a lot.

Connecting to other games doesn't work anymore, but it worked before
People can't connect to my server/game anymore, but it worked before

- If you have set up port forwarding manually the most likely cause is that you have got a new local IP address assigned to you. Edit your port forwarding to use your new local IP address.
- If connecting to other games worked before but doesn't anymore, try to restart your router. Up to 5 % of all routers have buggy firmware and restarting routers solve a lot of problems.
- If people could connect to your game before but can't anymore, try to restart your router.
- Some VPN tunnels and VPN services won't work with the game. Disable them and check your your port forwarding again.
- If the problem persist double-check any anti-virus programs and windows firewall rules in case they got updated.

I can't connect to my own server - "Application is already running"

Starting the server or game through Steam directly only allows for one instance to be running at the same time or you will get the message "application is already running".

Solution: Go to your installation folder for the game and start "Superfighters Deluxe Server.exe" directly and it will gladly start without Steam. Then you can start the game normally through Steam.
To join your own game the quickest way is to use "Connect to IP" with localhost "127.0.0.1". You can also use the server browser.

Random disconnects

If you're playing on a wifi connection over 2.4GHz try switching to 5.0GHz or use an Ethernet cable. The 2.4HGz band can be busy, especially if there's more 2.4GHz devices nearby. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXbidC6q5-Y for a more in-depth explanation.
See https://steamcommunity.com/app/855860/d ... 292124221/

The game also features an an automatic kicking system if your ping is too high. The internet is a busy place and sometimes your traffic will be re-routed or temporarily delayed or stopped which can cause your ping to spike for a few moments or several seconds. Sometimes this is enough to get you automatically kicked from the game. Other causes for ping spikes can be background downloads of other games or software updates or other persons using the same local network with a higher QoS (Quality of Service) for their traffic which can cause the SFD to automatically kick you in case SFD's traffic is not prioritized or stopped if your bandwidth is low.

You might also get kicked in case your public IP changes mid-game as that will confuse the game.
