dropped objects, objects that fall off dead players, and objects that weren't thrown should be considered null (like a grenade rolling past a player), excluding explosion particles i guess. i'm suggesting because this shits getting annoying

Well the solution is to shoot out you're ammo like a crazy 90s rambo like character and then take the weapon and if it's a melee weapon just try to aim to the closest non returnable pit in the map or to the head of another player fighting another player. thrown hit damage should only apply to weapons
i was playing and somebody literally kicked wood debris at me and then i took damage for no reason. i believe that the "thrown damage" should only apply to guns/melee weapons, etc. and everything else is normal and has no hitbox. Somebody kicked a explosive at me (the tiny red one) and it did damage...
